Asics Gel Nimbus 10 vs. Avia Avi-Bolt II running shoes? Which should I get?
The Gel Nimbus 10s have more cushioning and stability, but they’re heavier. The Avia’s are more of a racing shoe, and they’re lighter and will be faster, but they will be less cushioned and less supportive. I do race, but I don’t know if I would sacrifice the comfort and stability during training for the lightness and speed of the Avias.
Long story short: Will I be able to run in the Avias during training without my feet hurting too much?
I have both Avia and Asics gel shoes, and I would recommend the Asics for both training and racing. Unless a shoe is unreasonably heavy, you won’t notice the weight difference in them.
The Avia shoes seemed very good at first, but it wasn’t long before they started to hurt my feet and became uncomfortable. If you decide to run Avias, you should be extremely selective in what kind you wear, try them out as best you can before purchase. Many people like them, I have one pair I still train in, but if other brands are an option then I recommend not buying the Avias.
Asics are very good shoes, they tend to suit a wide range of Runners, are good for both training and racing, and fit most people’s price range. They’re pretty durable, and if you buy them so they fit your feet properly you should be very happy with them for a long time.
