Can a college XC runner participate in a 5k fun run?
Will you hurt amateur status if you run in a family fun run 5k or turkey trot? Most prizes if you were actually able to win are plaques or medals…. not money, i think.
Absolutely! You’re right, in those types of races prizes tend to be medals, certificates, ribbons, etc. You really have to get into some of the bigger marathons & half-marathons to worry about money. 5K road races are great for xc Runners – go for it!
