All About Charity Runs by OymTexts
So you’re looking for charity runs, that’s excellent news! Running events have become one of our favorite options to help a charity raise cash, and it has the extra reward of being generally excellent for your body. We constructed this blog to help people who are new to the idea of runs benefiting charity get an idea of a little general information to kick off their run event experience. I know we’ll answer the questions you have, but if not, let us know and we’ll try to find the answer for you.
How do these kinds of runs function and raise cash for the charity? A normal charity event is started and arranged by a charitable organization that has an tie with sports or fitness. Good examples are Livestrong, American Heart Association, or your local hospital. Runs function in a number of various ways to collect cash. First, athletes typically pay a relatively small registration fee that helps to sponsor the group of the event and also goes directly to the charity fund. You’ll also likely get a souvenir t-shirt in the deal. Second, in many charity runs participants will act as fund-raisers and solicit donations or pledges from companions and family members. These pledges are either a flat donation, or come in a per-mile formulation. Before you sign-up for a run, make sure you figure out how your donations will positively help the charity.
Does one need to be in first-class shape to participate in a charity run or can I train lightly? My favorite thing about charity type runs is that they’re typically not very competitive. The main intent of the event is to help a good cause in place of running a record-setting time. Charity runs routinely have races of altering distances: 1 mile, 5k, 10k, all the way up to a marathon. This lets anyone participate. They will also in many instances have an event specifically for walkers. Long story short,it would be beneficial to do a little training before your charity run, but you definitely don’t have to be a pro.
How does one find a charity run? Charity running events take place often. If you’re on the prowl you’ll find one. The web is a perfect starting point. Try a search on one of the big search engines, or on Twitter/Facebook. Call your cities biggest running club, or a local hospital and they can usually point you in the right direction. The local gym or YMCA is also a great resource. They will for sure know about any local runs. Runners World magazine has a race list that contains charity runs. Finally, get out there and meet your fellow runners. Many times a quick conversation is the best way to find your next run for charity.
That’s all for now! You’re ready to get out and get involved in a charity run. Running events were a great fund-raising tool in 2010, and we hope they will continue to bring assistance in 2011! Good luck!
